riverbank

Found clothing and personal effects.
Dimensions: variable.

riverbank presents personal effects left behind by people crossing the Río Grande / Río Bravo, bringing into view the material traces of migration and border crossing. Through discarded clothing and belongings, the work points to absence, vulnerability, and the anonymous conditions under which many lives move through the Mexico–United States border.

Originally commissioned by Artpace San Antonio as part of the International Artist- In-Residence programme New Works: 06.2, curated by Yuko Hasegawa. The work later entered the collection of the Linda Pace Foundation.
