Vis.[un]necessary force_5

Counter-forensic field kit, community-controlled archive process and growing audiovisual corpus.

Vis.[un]necessary force_5 (V.[u]nf_5) is an ongoing counter-forensic field kit and archive system developed in long-term collaboration with Las Rastreadoras de El Fuerte in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Building on V.[u]nf_3 and V.[u]nf_4, it combines head-mounted cameras, geolocated files, offline storage, printed logs and collective viewing to organise material produced during searches for victims of enforced disappearance.

The artwork consists of the infrastructure, its use and the growing audiovisual corpus. Recording tools become extensions of the searching body, while review and archiving remain under the collective’s control. Any public presentation will depend on consent, security and evidentiary risk.
