lys hvitt · lyd hvit // light white · sound white displaces a geolocated ecosystem in Trøndelag into the exhibition space through a reactive audiovisual installation that combines machinic language, spatial sound, and moving image.

The installation explores physical space through sound, generative text, moving image, AI, and voice cloning through two programmed audiovisual mechanisms. The first mechanism is an immersive sound installation of nineteen loudspeakers distributed at low and high positions throughout the space. Through spatialisation programmed in Pure Data, the sound expands across the whole environment. The second mechanism is a single-channel video installation: a large borderless digital screen set into a deep black raised floor, functioning as a visual counterpoint to the spatial sound environment.

The form and content of lys hvitt · lyd hvit // light white · sound white draw on my long-term research on Samuel Beckett, especially the technologised relation between image, body, and voice. It is the first artwork in which I return directly to the Beckettian concept of language as machine. Lessness (1968) and The Lost Ones (1969) form part of its conceptual framework.
